INSIGHTS
1. Austria is located in Europe, and it is bordered by Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Italy, Liechtenstein, and Switzerland.
2. Austria’s main industries are construction, machinery, vehicles and parts, food, metals, chemicals, lumber and wood processing, paper and paperboard, communications equipment, and tourism.
3. In Austria there are eight different languages in total, however German is the official language. Other than German the population mainly speak Alemannic, Austro-Bavarian, and five other minority languages which consist of Serbian, Turkish, Burgenland Croatian, Hungarian, and Slovene.
4. Austria’s GDP per capita is in U.S.D. $43,100 making it the 21st highest in the world.
5. Austria is part of the European Union so it does provide for aid to be given to whomever the E.U. helps.
6. The main religious views represented in Austria are Roman Catholic 73.6%, Protestant 4.7%, Muslim 4.2%, other 3.5%, unspecified 2%, none 12%
7. Austria is Federal Republic and the formal long name is the Republic of Austria.
8. Austria’s main import and export partners are China, Japan, United States, Republic of Korea, and Singapore.
9. Austria is thought to be generally corruption free, as it is a very wealthy and well-educated place.
10. Austria is a very old republic, and the margraviate of Austria was established in 976, however there independence as a republic was established in 1918.
